This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

treewide: Switch/rename to timer_delete[_sync]()

speakup: use SPKDIR=$(src) to specify the source directory

Commit e68a558fb2af ("speakup: Fix building as extmod") was intended to support building this as an external module. Since commit b1992c3772e6 ("kbuild: use $(src) instead of $(srctree)/$(src) for source directory"), $(src) consistently points to the source directory, regardless of whether it is compiled as an external module or not. In case a console is set up really large and contains a really long word (> 256 characters), we have to stop before the length of the word buffer. speakup: Turn i18n files utf-8

i18n currently assume latin1 encoding, which is not enough for most languages. This separates out the utf-8 processing of /dev/synthu, and uses it for a new synth_writeu, which we make synth_printf now use. This has the effect of making all the i18 messages processed in utf-8.
