This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

block: pass io_comp_batch to rq_end_io_fn callback

Add a third parameter 'const struct io_comp_batch *' to the rq_end_io_fn callback signature. This allows end_io handlers to access the completion batch context when requests are completed via blk_mq_end_request_batch(). The io_comp_batch is passed from blk_mq_end_request_batch(), while NULL is passed from __blk_mq_end_request() and blk_mq_put_rq_ref() which don't have batch context. This infrastructure change enables drivers to detect whether they're being called from a batched completion path (like iopoll) and access additional context stored in the io_comp_batch. scsi: st: Skip buffer flush for information ioctls

With commit 9604eea5bd3a ("scsi: st: Add third party poweron reset handling") some customer tape applications fail from being unable to complete ioctls to verify ID information for the device when there has been any type of reset event to their tape devices. The st driver currently will fail all standard SCSI ioctls if a call to flush_buffer() fails in st_ioctl(). This causes ioctls which otherwise have no effect on tape state to succeed or fail based on events unrelated to the requested ioctl. This makes SCSI information ioctls unreliable after a reset even if no buffering is in use. With a reset setting the pos_unknown field, flush_buffer() will report failure and fail all ioctls. So any application expecting to use ioctls to check the identify the device will be unable to do so in such a state. For SCSI information ioctls, avoid the need for a buffer flush and allow the ioctls to execute regardless of buffer state. scsi: st: Tighten the page format heuristics with MODE SELECT

In the days when SCSI-2 was emerging, some drives did claim SCSI-2 but did not correctly implement it. The st driver first tries MODE SELECT with the page format bit set to set the block descriptor. If not successful, the non-page format is tried. The test only tests the sense code and this triggers also from illegal parameter in the parameter list. The test is limited to "old" devices and made more strict to remove false alarms.
