Commit 1a699476e258 ("ACPI / hotplug / PCI: Hotplug notifications
from acpi_bus_notify()") added debug messages for a few common
events. These debug messages are unconditionally enabled if
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG is defined, contrary to the documented
meaning, making the ACPI system spew lots of unwanted noise on
any kernel with dynamic debugging.

The bug was introduced by commit fbfddae69657 ("ACPI: Add
acpi_handle_&lt;level&gt;() interfaces"), which added the
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG dependency without respecting its meaning.

Fix by adding real support for dynamic_debug.

An ACPI enumerated device may have its compatible id strings.

To support the compatible ACPI ids (acpi_device-&gt;pnp.ids),
we introduced acpi_driver_match_device() to match
the driver-&gt;acpi_match_table and acpi_device-&gt;pnp.ids.

For those drivers, MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE(acpi, xxx) is used to
exports the driver module alias in the format of
"acpi:device_compatible_ids".
But in the mean time, the current code does not export the
ACPI compatible strings as part of the module_alias for the
ACPI enumerated devices, which will break the module autoloading.

Take the following piece of code for example,

If this piece of code is used in a platform driver for
an ACPI enumerated platform device, the platform driver module_alias
is "acpi:INTABCD", but the uevent attribute of its platform device node
is "platform:INTABCD:00" (PREFIX:platform_device-&gt;name).
If this piece of code is used in an i2c driver for an ACPI enumerated
i2c device, the i2c driver module_alias is "acpi:INTABCD", but
the uevent of its i2c device node is "i2c:INTABCD:00" (PREFIX:i2c_client-&gt;name).
If this piece of code is used in an spi driver for an ACPI enumerated
spi device, the spi driver module_alias is "acpi:INTABCD", but
the uevent of its spi device node is "spi:INTABCD" (PREFIX:spi_device-&gt;modalias).

The reason why the module autoloading is not broken for now is that
the uevent file of the ACPI device node is "acpi:INTABCD".
Thus it is the ACPI device node creation that loads the platform/i2c/spi driver.

So this is a problem that will affect us the day when the ACPI bus
is removed from device model.

This patch introduces two new APIs,
one for exporting ACPI ids in uevent MODALIAS field,
and another for exporting ACPI ids in device' modalias sysfs attribute.

For any bus that supports ACPI enumerated devices, it needs to invoke
these two functions for their uevent and modalias attribute.

The comment about return value of acpi_table_parse() is incorrect.
This patch fix it.

Since all callers only check if the function succeeded or not, this
patch simplifies the semantics by returning -errno for all failure
cases. This will also simply the comment.

As suggested by Toshi Kani &lt;toshi.kani@hp.com&gt;, also change the stub
in linux/acpi.h to return -ENODEV.

To avoid build problems and breaking dependencies between ACPI header
files, &lt;acpi/acpi.h&gt; should not be included directly by code outside
of the ACPI core subsystem.  However, that is possible if
&lt;linux/acpi_io.h&gt; is included, because that file contains
a direct inclusion of &lt;acpi/acpi.h&gt;.

For this reason, remove the direct &lt;acpi/acpi.h&gt; inclusion from
&lt;linux/acpi_io.h&gt;, move that file from include/linux/ to include/acpi/
and make &lt;linux/acpi.h&gt; include it for CONFIG_ACPI set along with the
other ACPI header files.  Accordingly, Remove the inclusions of
&lt;linux/acpi_io.h&gt; from everywhere.

Of course, that causes the contents of the new &lt;acpi/acpi_io.h&gt; file
to be available for CONFIG_ACPI set only, so intel_opregion.o that
depends on it should also depend on CONFIG_ACPI (and it really should
not be compiled for CONFIG_ACPI unset anyway).

Modify acpi_preset_companion() to take a struct acpi_device pointer
instead of an ACPI handle as its second argument and redefine it as
a static inline wrapper around ACPI_COMPANION_SET() passing the
return value of acpi_find_child_device() directly as the second
argument to it.  Update its users to pass struct acpi_device
pointers instead of ACPI handles to it.

This allows some unnecessary acpi_bus_get_device() calls to be
avoided.

struct acpi_device fields are only available when CONFIG_ACPI is set. We may
find use for dev_name(&amp;adev-&gt;dev) in generic code that is build also without
CONFIG_ACPI is set but currently this requires #ifdef CONFIG_ACPI churn.

Provide here an accessor that returns dev_name of embedded struct device dev
in struct acpi_device or NULL depending on CONFIG_ACPI setting.

Modify struct acpi_dev_node to contain a pointer to struct acpi_device
associated with the given device object (that is, its ACPI companion
device) instead of an ACPI handle corresponding to it.  Introduce two
new macros for manipulating that pointer in a CONFIG_ACPI-safe way,
ACPI_COMPANION() and ACPI_COMPANION_SET(), and rework the
ACPI_HANDLE() macro to take the above changes into account.
Drop the ACPI_HANDLE_SET() macro entirely and rework its users to
use ACPI_COMPANION_SET() instead.  For some of them who used to
pass the result of acpi_get_child() directly to ACPI_HANDLE_SET()
introduce a helper routine acpi_preset_companion() doing an
equivalent thing.

The main motivation for doing this is that there are things
represented by struct acpi_device objects that don't have valid
ACPI handles (so called fixed ACPI hardware features, such as
power and sleep buttons) and we would like to create platform
device objects for them and "glue" them to their ACPI companions
in the usual way (which currently is impossible due to the
lack of valid ACPI handles).  However, there are more reasons
why it may be useful.

First, struct acpi_device pointers allow of much better type checking
than void pointers which are ACPI handles, so it should be more
difficult to write buggy code using modified struct acpi_dev_node
and the new macros.  Second, the change should help to reduce (over
time) the number of places in which the result of ACPI_HANDLE() is
passed to acpi_bus_get_device() in order to obtain a pointer to the
struct acpi_device associated with the given "physical" device,
because now that pointer is returned by ACPI_COMPANION() directly.
Finally, the change should make it easier to write generic code that
will build both for CONFIG_ACPI set and unset without adding explicit
compiler directives to it.
