Don't have the other users that do things at panic time (the watchdog)
do all this themselves, provide a function to do it.
Also, with the new design where most stuff happens at thread context,
a few things needed to be fixed to avoid doing locking in a panic
context.

Return value of ipmi_destroy_user() has no meaning, because it's always
zero and callers can do nothing with it. And in most cases it's not
checked. So make this function return void. This also will eliminate static
code analyzer warnings such as unreachable code/redundant comparison when
the return value is checked against non-zero value.
Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Svace.

Use a retry machanism to give the BMC more opportunities to correctly
respond when we receive specific completion codes.
This is similar to what is done in __get_device_id().

Since things that IPMI uses can be hot-swapped, the users and
interfaces really need to be able to handle this.
Add the functions so the users and interfaces can implement

ready.

Users of the IPMI code had their own panic handlers, but the
order was not necessarily right, the base IPMI code would
need to handle the panic first, and the user had no way to
know if the IPMI interface could run at panic time.
Add a panic handler to the user interface, it is called if
non-NULL and the interface the user is on is capable of panic
handling. It also cleans up the panic log handling a bit to
reuse the existing interface loop in the main panic handler.

Rework the DMI probe function to be a generic platform probe, and
then rework the DMI code (and a few other things) to use the more
generic information. This is so other things can declare platform
IPMI devices.

Parameter trydefaults=1 causes the ipmi_init to initialize ipmi through
the legacy port io space that was designated for ipmi. Architectures
that do not map legacy port io can panic when trydefaults=1.
Rather than implement build-time conditional exceptions for each
architecture that does not map legacy port io, we have removed legacy
port io from the driver.
Parameter 'trydefaults' has been removed. Attempts to use it hereafter
will evoke the "Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter" message.
The patch was built against a number of architectures and tested for
regressions and functionality on x86_64 and ARM64.

The IPMI driver would wake up periodically looking for events and
watchdog pretimeouts. If there is nothing waiting for these events,
it's really kind of pointless to be checking for them. So modify the
driver so the message handler can pass down if it needs the lower layer
to be waiting for these. Modify the system interface lower layer to
turn off all timer and thread activity if the upper layer doesn't need
anything and it is not currently handling messages. And modify the
message handler to not restart the timer if its timer is not needed.
The timers and kthread will still be enabled if:
- the SI interface is handling a message.
- a user has enabled watching for events.
- the IPMI watchdog timer is in use (since it uses pretimeouts).
- the message handler is waiting on a remote response.
- a user has registered to receive commands.
This mostly affects interfaces without interrupts. Interfaces with
interrupts already don't use CPU in the system interface when the
interface is idle.

The <linux/device.h> header includes a lot of stuff, and
it in turn gets a lot of use just for the basic "struct device"
which appears so often.
Clean up the users as follows:
1) For those headers only needing "struct device" as a pointer
in fcn args, replace the include with exactly that.
2) For headers not really using anything from device.h, simply
delete the include altogether.
3) For headers relying on getting device.h implicitly before
being included themselves, now explicitly include device.h
4) For files in which doing #1 or #2 uncovers an implicit
dependency on some other header, fix by explicitly adding
the required header(s).
Any C files that were implicitly relying on device.h to be
present have already been dealt with in advance.
Total removals from #1 and #2: 51. Total additions coming
from #3: 9. Total other implicit dependencies from #4: 7.
As of 3.3-rc1, there were 110, so a net removal of 42 gives
about a 38% reduction in device.h presence in include/*

The <linux/module.h> pretty much brings in the kitchen sink along
with it, so it should be avoided wherever reasonably possible in
terms of being included from other commonly used <linux/something.h>
files, as it results in a measureable increase on compile times.
The worst culprit was probably device.h since it is used everywhere.
This file also had an implicit dependency/usage of mutex.h which was
masked by module.h, and is also fixed here at the same time.
There are over a dozen other headers that simply declare the
struct instead of pulling in the whole file, so follow their lead
and simply make it a few more.
Most of the implicit dependencies on module.h being present by
these headers pulling it in have been now weeded out, so we can
finally make this change with hopefully minimal breakage.

The IPMI smi_watcher will be used to catch the IPMI interface as they
come or go. In order to communicate with the correct IPMI device, it
should be confirmed whether it is what we wanted especially on the
system with multiple IPMI devices. But the new_smi callback function
of smi_watcher provides very limited info(only the interface number
and dev pointer) and there is no detailed info about the low level
interface. For example: which mechansim registers the IPMI
interface(ACPI, PCI, DMI and so on).
This is to add one interface that can get more info of low-level IPMI
device. For example: the ACPI device handle will be returned for the
pnp_acpi IPMI device.

The "run_to_completion" mode was somewhat broken. Locks need to be avoided in
run_to_completion mode, and it shouldn't be used by normal users, just
internally for panic situations.
This patch removes locks in run_to_completion mode and removes the user call
for setting the mode. The only user was the poweroff code, but it was easily
converted to use the polling interface.

Currently the IPMI watchdog timer sets the watchdog timeout on a panic, but it
doesn't actually poll the interface to make sure the message goes out.
Add an interface for polling the IPMI driver, and add code to the IPMI
watchdog timer to poll the interface when the timer is set from a panic.

Some commands and operations on a BMC can cause the BMC to "go away" for a
while. This can cause the automatic flag processing and other things of that
nature to timeout and generate annoying logs, or possibly cause other bad
things to happen when in firmware update mode.
Add detection of those commands (cold reset, warm reset, and any firmware
command) and turns off automatic processing for 30 seconds. It also add a
manual override either way.

This patch adds the ability to register for a command per-channel in the
IPMI driver.
If your BMC supports multiple channels, incoming messages can be useful to
have the ability to register to receive commands on a specific channel
instead the current behaviour of all channels.

Add full driver model support for the IPMI driver. It links in the proper
bus and device support.
It adds an "ipmi" driver interface that has each BMC discovered by the
driver (as a device). These BMCs appear in the devices/platform directory.
If there are multiple interfaces to the same BMC, the driver should
discover this and will only have one BMC entry. The BMC entry will have
pointers to each interface device that connects to it.
The device information (statistics and config information) has not yet been
ported over to the driver model from proc, that will come later.
This work was based on work by Yani Ioannou. I basically rewrote it using
that code as a guide, but he still deserves credit :).

This patch is rather large, but it really can't be done in smaller chunks
easily and I believe it is an important change. This has been out and tested
for a while in the latest IPMI driver release. There are no functional
changes, just changes as necessary to convert the locking over (and a few
minor style updates).
The IPMI driver uses read/write locks to ensure that things exist while they
are in use. This is bad from a number of points of view. This patch removes
the rwlocks and uses refcounts and RCU lists to manage what the locks did.

The "null message handler" in the IPMI driver is used in startup and panic
situations to handle messages. It was only designed to work with messages
from the local management controller, but in some cases it was used to get
messages from remote managmenet controllers, and the system would then
panic. This patch makes the "null message handler" in the IPMI driver more
general so it works with any kind of message.

IPMI allows multiple IPMB channels on a single interface, and each channel
might have a different IPMB address. However, the driver has only one IPMB
address that it uses for everything. This patch adds new IOCTLS and a new
internal interface for setting per-channel IPMB addresses and LUNs. New
systems are coming out with support for multiple IPMB channels, and they are
broken without this patch.

This patch to adds "power cycle" functionality to the IPMI power off module
ipmi_poweroff. It also contains changes to support procfs control of the
feature.
The power cycle action is considered an optional chassis control in the IPMI
specification. However, it is definitely useful when the hardware supports
it. A power cycle is usually required in order to reset a firmware in a bad
state. This action is critical to allow remote management of servers.
The implementation adds power cycle as optional to the ipmi_poweroff module.
It can be modified dynamically through the proc entry mentioned above. During
a power down and enabled, the power cycle command is sent to the BMC firmware.
If it fails either due to non-support or some error, it will retry to send
the command as power off.

This patch removes some unneeded cruft that Adrian found, and also turns
off the shutdown of the timer when removing the module. Since the timer is
shutdown when the driver is closed (unless no way out is specified) this is
unnecessary and defeats the no way out option.
- remove some completely unused code
- make some needlessly global code static
- removal of some EXPORT_SYMBOL'ed code with zero users.
- Removal of the timer shutdown on module removal

Some people found some bugs and some missing functions in the IPMI driver,
so I have patching things together for the next release. The attached
patch moves to version 33 of the driver and contains:
* SMBIOS table support for specifying register spacing. This allows
non-contiguous registers to be specified and some machines do
this.
* ACPI table updates to support all the possible register sizes and
bit offsets into the registers for the IPMI information.
* Support for command line parameters to specify register
spacing, sizes, and bit offsets.
* Support for power control with IPMI. This allows a halt to
power down a machine with IPMI.
* A fix for a race condition with interrupts enabled on an
SMP machine. A lock was released then reclaimed, but
there was code later that assumed that had not happened.
* A fix for protecting the driver against bad responses from
the controller chip. In the past, the driver had assumed that
the controller chip would not give it bad data. This has
turned out to be a bad assumption
* ACPI interrupt handlers now return a return value, adjust
accordingly.

This patch fixes some problems with handling of channel detection in the
driver. Some systems that are IPMI 1.5 do not implement the channel query
command. Also, the interface has to be fully up before the command is
ready.
This patch also adds a polling interface; this is required for situations
where interrupts are not running, but the system must still issue IPMI
commands, like when taking a crash dump.
It also updates the driver version to v32.

- Add support for messaging through an IPMI LAN interface, which is
required for some system software that already exists on other IPMI
drivers. It also does some renaming and a lot of little cleanups.
- Add the "System Interface" driver. The previous driver for system
interfaces only supported the KCS interface, this driver supports all
system interfaces defined in the IPMI standard. It also does a much better
job of handling ACPI and SMBIOS tables for detecting IPMI system
interfaces.
