2011-02-17vt: Add virtual console keyboard mode OFFArthur Taylor
virtual console: add keyboard mode OFF Add a new mode for the virtual console keyboard OFF in which all input other than shift keys is ignored. Prevents vt input buffers from overflowing when a program opens but doesn't read from a tty, like X11 using evdev for input. 2007-11-29Fix <linux/kd.h> usage in userspaceDavid Woodhouse
For reasons unclear to me, glibc's <sys/kd.h> deliberately defeats the attempt we make in <linux/kd.h> to include <linux/types.h> For now, change the one instance of __u32 to 'unsigned int' instead because it's breaking userspace. We should probably also remove our inclusion of <linux/types.h>, since we don't use it -- but that's not a change to make in -rc. 2007-10-17unicode diacritics supportSamuel Thibault
There have been issues with non-latin1 diacritics and unicode. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7746 Git 759448f459234bfcf34b82471f0dba77a9aca498 `Kernel utf-8 handling' partly resolved it by adding conversion between diacritics and unicode. The patch below goes further by just turning diacritics into unicode, hence providing better future support. The kbd support can be fetched from http://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=12313 This was tested in all of latin1, latin9, latin2 and unicode with french and czech dead keys. Turn the kernel accent_table into unicode, and extend ioctls KDGKBDIACR and KDSKBDIACR into their equivalents KDGKBDIACRUC and KDSKBDIACR. New function int conv_uni_to_8bit(u32 uni) for converting unicode into 8bit _input_. No, we don't want to store the translation, as it is potentially sparse and large. 2004-07-29[PATCH] console_font_op annotatedAlexander Viro
->vc_font switched to console_font (from console_font_op, of all things!) console_font_op annotated (->data is finally makred __user). Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@parcelfarce.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2004-07-29[PATCH] con_font_default sanitizedAlexander Viro
->con_font_default() sanitized. We copy font name (if any) from userland in the caller and pass it explicitly. We are also beginning to get rid of console_font_op in method arguments. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@parcelfarce.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2004-05-30[PATCH] sparse: vt and friendsAlexander Viro
vt, vt_ioctl, consolemap and selection annotated, struct unimapdesc and struct consolefontdesc got __user on their pointer members.
2002-10-11Since 2.5.32 the keyboard repeat code was broken.Andries E. Brouwer
The reason Vojtech broke it was the stupid name of a field in struct kbd_repeat, namely "rate". Every sane person expects that a rate has dimension [1/sec], but here the "rate" is a time period measured in msec. So, the patch below first of all fixes the code, and secondly changes the name. Since Vojtech used PERIOD as index, I also used period as field name in the struct. Half of the stuff below is actually from Alan Stern. Andries

- replace hwclk_time with rtc_time - use hwclk instead of gettod to set initial time
2002-05-03[PATCH] kd.hAndries E. Brouwer
Andrej Lajovic observes that in kd.h the definitions of K_NUMLOCK and K_CAPSLOCK are interchanged. He is right (and this is the case since 1.1.54; nobody noticed because setleds.c does not use these defines). So, here is the fix. No kernel behaviour is changed.
