From 5c5f1f64681cc889d9b13e4a61285e9e029d6ab5 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Raphael Pinsonneault-Thibeault Date: Fri, 24 Oct 2025 12:29:10 -0400 Subject: Bluetooth: hci_event: validate skb length for unknown CC opcode In hci_cmd_complete_evt(), if the command complete event has an unknown opcode, we assume the first byte of the remaining skb->data contains the return status. However, parameter data has previously been pulled in hci_event_func(), which may leave the skb empty. If so, using skb->data[0] for the return status uses un-init memory. The fix is to check skb->len before using skb->data. The size of the 'value' array in the mgmt_adv_pattern structure is 31. If the value of 'pattern[i].length' is set in the user space and exceeds 31, the 'patterns[i].value' array can be accessed out of bound when copied. Increasing the size of the 'value' array in the 'mgmt_adv_pattern' structure will break the userspace. Considering this, and to avoid OOB access revert the limits for 'offset' and 'length' back to the value of HCI_MAX_AD_LENGTH.
