2013-03-03Add a materialized view relations.Kevin Grittner
A materialized view has a rule just like a view and a heap and other physical properties like a table. The rule is only used to populate the table, references in queries refer to the materialized data. This is a minimal implementation, but should still be useful in many cases. Currently data is only populated "on demand" by the CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW and REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW statements. It is expected that future releases will add incremental updates with various timings, and that a more refined concept of defining what is "fresh" data will be developed. At some point it may even be possible to have queries use a materialized in place of references to underlying tables, but that requires the other above-mentioned features to be working first. Much of the documentation work by Robert Haas. Review by Noah Misch, Thom Brown, Robert Haas, Marko Tiikkaja Security review by KaiGai Kohei, with a decision on how best to implement sepgsql still pending.
2013-01-01Update copyrights for 2013Bruce Momjian
Fully update git head, and update back branches in ./COPYRIGHT and legal.sgml files.
2012-12-29Adjust more backend functions to return OID rather than void.Robert Haas
This is again intended to support extensions to the event trigger functionality. This may go a bit further than we need for that purpose, but there's some value in being consistent, and the OID may be useful for other purposes also. Dimitri Fontaine
2012-08-30Split tuple struct defs from htup.h to htup_details.hAlvaro Herrera
This reduces unnecessary exposure of other headers through htup.h, which is very widely included by many files. I have chosen to move the function prototypes to the new file as well, because that means htup.h no longer needs to include tupdesc.h. In itself this doesn't have much effect in indirect inclusion of tupdesc.h throughout the tree, because it's also required by execnodes.h; but it's something to explore in the future, and it seemed best to do the htup.h change now while I'm busy with it.
2012-06-10Run pgindent on 9.2 source tree in preparation for first 9.3Bruce Momjian
commit-fest.
2012-01-01Update copyright notices for year 2012.Bruce Momjian
2011-09-01Remove unnecessary #include references, per pgrminclude script.Bruce Momjian
2011-07-20Support SECURITY LABEL on databases, tablespaces, and roles.Robert Haas
This requires a new shared catalog, pg_shseclabel. Along the way, fix the security_label regression tests so that they don't monkey with the labels of any pre-existing objects. This is unlikely to matter in practice, since only the label for the "dummy" provider was being manipulated. But this way still seems cleaner. KaiGai Kohei, with fairly extensive hacking by me.
2011-06-28Remove rel.h from objectaddress.h; only relcache.h is necessary.Alvaro Herrera
Add rel.h to some files that now need it.
2011-06-27Add a missing_ok argument to get_object_address().Robert Haas
This lays the groundwork for an upcoming patch to streamline the handling of DROP commands. KaiGai Kohei
2011-04-10pgindent run before PG 9.1 beta 1.Bruce Momjian
2011-03-26Clean up cruft around collation initialization for tupdescs and scankeys.Tom Lane
I found actual bugs in GiST and plpgsql; the rest of this is cosmetic but meant to decrease the odds of future bugs of omission.
2011-03-04Refactor seclabel.c to use the new check_object_ownership function.Robert Haas
This avoids duplicate (and not-quite-matching) code, and makes the logic for SECURITY LABEL match COMMENT and ALTER EXTENSION ADD/DROP.
2011-02-08Per-column collation supportPeter Eisentraut
This adds collation support for columns and domains, a COLLATE clause to override it per expression, and B-tree index support. Peter Eisentraut reviewed by Pavel Stehule, Itagaki Takahiro, Robert Haas, Noah Misch
2011-01-01Basic foreign table support.Robert Haas
Foreign tables are a core component of SQL/MED. This commit does not provide a working SQL/MED infrastructure, because foreign tables cannot yet be queried. Support for foreign table scans will need to be added in a future patch. However, this patch creates the necessary system catalog structure, syntax support, and support for ancillary operations such as COMMENT and SECURITY LABEL. Shigeru Hanada, heavily revised by Robert Haas
2011-01-01Stamp copyrights for year 2011.Bruce Momjian
2010-10-26Fix dumb typo in SECURITY LABEL error message.Robert Haas
Report by Peter Eisentraut.
2010-09-27Add a SECURITY LABEL command.Robert Haas
This is intended as infrastructure to support integration with label-based mandatory access control systems such as SE-Linux. Further changes (mostly hooks) will be needed, but this is a big chunk of it. KaiGai Kohei and Robert Haas
