GitHub CI update. * pb/ci-github-skip-logs-for-broken-tests: ci(github): also skip logs of broken test cases
2024-01-22ci(github): also skip logs of broken test casesPhilippe Blain
When a test fails in the GitHub Actions CI pipeline, we mark it up using special GitHub syntax so it stands out when looking at the run log. We also mark up "fixed" test cases, and skip passing tests since we want to concentrate on the failures. The finalize_test_case_output function in test-lib-github-workflow-markup.sh which performs this markup is however missing a fourth case: "broken" tests, i.e. tests using 'test_expect_failure' to document a known bug. This leads to these "broken" tests appearing along with any failed tests, potentially confusing the reader who might not be aware that "broken" is the status for 'test_expect_failure' tests that indeed failed, and wondering what their commits "broke". Also skip these "broken" tests so that only failures and fixed tests stand out. 2022-05-21ci(github): avoid printing test case preamble twiceVictoria Dye
We want to mark up the test case preamble when presenting test output in Git's GitHub workflow. Let's suppress the non-marked-up version in that case. Any information it would contain is included in the marked-up variant already. 2022-05-21ci(github): skip the logs of the successful test casesJohannes Schindelin
In most instances, looking at the log of failed test cases is enough to identify the problem. In some (rare?) instances, a previous test case that was marked as successful actually has information pertaining to a later test case that fails. To allow the page to load relatively quickly, let's only show the logs of the failed test cases to be shown. The full logs are available for download as artifacts, should a deeper investigation become necessary. 2022-05-21ci: optionally mark up output in the GitHub workflowJohannes Schindelin
A couple of commands exist to spruce up the output in GitHub workflows: https://docs.github.com/en/actions/learn-github-actions/workflow-commands-for-github-actions In addition to the `::group::<label>`/`::endgroup::` commands (which we already use to structure the output of the build step better), we also use `::error::`/`::notice::` to draw the attention to test failures and to test cases that were expected to fail but didn't.
