That code is a relict from the early days of UML.
ppc support was never completed nor worked.
Let's rip it out.

show_regs() is inherently arch-dependent but it does make sense to print
generic debug information and some archs already do albeit in slightly
different forms. This patch introduces a generic function to print debug
information from show_regs() so that different archs print out the same
information and it's much easier to modify what's printed.
show_regs_print_info() prints out the same debug info as dump_stack()
does plus task and thread_info pointers.
* Archs which didn't print debug info now do.
alpha, arc, blackfin, c6x, cris, frv, h8300, hexagon, ia64, m32r,
metag, microblaze, mn10300, openrisc, parisc, score, sh64, sparc,

* Already prints debug info. Replaced with show_regs_print_info().
The printed information is superset of what used to be there.
arm, arm64, avr32, mips, powerpc, sh32, tile, unicore32, x86
* s390 is special in that it used to print arch-specific information
along with generic debug info. Heiko and Martin think that the
arch-specific extra isn't worth keeping s390 specfic implementation.
Converted to use the generic version.
Note that now all archs print the debug info before actual register
dumps.

Currently all architectures but microblaze unconditionally define
USE_ELF_CORE_DUMP. The microblaze omission seems like an error to me, so
let's kill this ifdef and make sure we are the same everywhere.

Semaphores are no longer performance-critical, so a generic C
implementation is better for maintainability, debuggability and
extensibility. Thanks to Peter Zijlstra for fixing the lockdep
warning. Thanks to Harvey Harrison for pointing out that the
unlikely() was unnecessary.

The variable AFLAGS is a wellknown variable and the usage by
kbuild may result in unexpected behaviour.
On top of that several people over time has asked for a way to
pass in additional flags to gcc.
This patch replace use of AFLAGS with KBUILD_AFLAGS all over
the tree.
Patch was tested on following architectures:
alpha, arm, i386, x86_64, mips, sparc, sparc64, ia64, m68k, s390

s390 needs to change some parts of arch/um/kernel/ptrace.c. Thus, the code
regarding PEEKUSER and POKEUSER are shifted to arch/um/sys-<subarch>/ptrace.c.
Also s390 debug registers need to be updated, when singlestepping is switched
on / off. Thus, setting/resetting of singlestepping is centralized in the new
function set_singlestep(), which also inserts the macro
SUBARCH_SET_SINGLESTEP(mode), if defined.
Finally, s390 has the "ieee_instruction_pointer" in its
registers, which also is allowed to be read via
ptrace( PTRACE_PEEKUSER, getpid(), PT_IEEE_IP, 0);
To implement this feature, sys_ptrace inserts the macro
SUBARCH_PTRACE_SPECIAL, if defined.

Gets rid of all inclusions of {sys,linux,asm}/ptrace.h since their effects and
contents are somewhat distro- and architecture-dependent.
arch/um/sysdep/ptrace_user is now responsible for providing the system's
ptrace interfaces to UML.
As such, it is a purely userspace header, and this exposed a couple of places
where kernel files were including it. One of them needed MAX_REG_OFFSET, so
this was provided by adding a new generated header, user-constants.h, which
includes this.
Also, changed PTRACE_{PEEK,POKE}_USER to _USR since that seems to be more
standard.

This patch gets rid of CONFIG_ALL_PPC, which was a very confusing
option, since it didn't actually mean "ALL" at all, it was more a
"common set" thing.
The primary replacement for CONFIG_ALL_PPC is CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM.
I have also defined CONFIG_PPC_PMAC, CONFIG_PPC_PREP and CONFIG_PPC_CHRP
for selecting code which is only needed for one of the three platforms
that CONFIG_ALL_PPC represented. This is something that we (the PPC
community) have been talking about doing for some time. There is also a
CONFIG_PPC_OF which is for PPC machines with Open Firmware, which is
currently powermacs and CHRP machines.
At the moment, CONFIG_PPC_{PMAC,PREP,CHRP,OF} get unconditionally
defined if CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM is selected, but in future this
split will let us have more control over what gets included, so that
for example we don't necessarily have to include powermac bits in a
kernel for a PReP machine.
I have gone through the uses of CONFIG_ALL_PPC one by one and decided
which of the new symbols best represents the set of machines that need
the code in question. In fact most of the uses of CONFIG_ALL_PPC in
the drivers have been replaced by CONFIG_PPC_PMAC. The other symbols
are mostly confined to the PPC architecture code.

Makefiles no longer need to include Rules.make, which is currently an
empty file. This patch removes it from the arch tree Makefiles.

Locking was added where necessary.
All processors take timer interrupts, but only CPU 0 calls the timer
IRQ. The others just call update_process_times to keep the
accounting straight.
The timer interrupt is blocked along with the other signals.
