2025-11-18drm/xe/kunit: Fix forcewake assertion in mocs testMatt Roper
The MOCS kunit test calls KUNIT_ASSERT_TRUE_MSG() with a condition of 'true;' this prevents the assertion from ever failing. Replace KUNIT_ASSERT_TRUE_MSG with KUNIT_FAIL_AND_ABORT to get the intended failure behavior in cases where forcewake was not acquired successfully. 2025-11-13drm/xe/pf: Use migration-friendly GGTT auto-provisioningMichal Wajdeczko
Instead of trying very hard to find the largest fair GGTT size that could be allocated for VFs on the current tile, pick some smaller rounded down to power-of-two value that is more likely to be provisioned in the same manner by the other PF instance: num VFs | GGTT space (MiB) --------+----------------- 63..57 | 56 56..29 | 64 28..15 | 128 14..8 | 256 7..4 | 512 3..2 | 1024 1 | 2048 (regular PF) 1 | 3584 (admin only PF) Note that due to FW/HW limitations we can't share all 4GiB GGTT address space with VFs, so for the larger (>7) number of the VFs the change in the outcome is happening at different points than we have in case of GuC contexts/doorbells IDs. 2025-10-22drm/xe/tests/pci: Check dma_mask_size, va_bits and vm_max_levelGustavo Sousa
Members dma_mask_size, va_bits and vm_max_level of struct xe_device_desc are all expected to be non-zero. Add checks for that in check_platform_desc(). 2025-10-22drm/xe/tests/pci: Convert GT count check to general device checkGustavo Sousa
We already have check_graphics_ip() and check_media_ip() as general functions to check the IP descriptors. The check in check_platform_gt_count() is simple enough such that we can convert the function to a more general device check. In an upcoming change, we will also add some checks for other members of struct xe_device_desc. As such, rename check_platform_gt_count() to check_platform_desc(). While at it, use inline (unsigned int) casting of max_gt_per_tile to keep checks for each member localized; and use KUNIT_EXPECT_*() variants of the macros to allow multiple issues to be reported. 2025-10-15drm/xe/kunit: Fix kerneldoc for parameterized testsMatt Roper
Kunit's generate_params() was recently updated to take an additional test context parameter. 2025-10-14drm/xe/rtp: Pass xe_device parameter to FUNC matchesMatt Roper

2025-10-14drm/xe: Read VF GMD_ID with a specifically-allocated dummy GTMatt Roper
SRIOV VF initialization has a bit of a chicken and egg design problem. Determining the IP version of the graphics and media IPs can't be done via direct register reads as it is on PF or native and instead requires querying the GuC. However initialization of the GT, including its GuC, needs to wait until after we know the IP versions so that the proper initialization steps for the platform/IP are followed. Currently the (somewhat hacky) solution is to manually fill out just enough fields in tile 0's primary GT structure to make it look as if the GT has been initialized so that the GuC can be partially initialized and queried to obtain the GMD_ID values. When the GT gets properly initialized during the regular flows, the hacked-up values will get overwritten as part of the general initialization flows. Rather than using tile 0's primary GT structure to hold the hacked up values for querying every GT on every tile, instead allocate a dedicated dummy structure. This will allow us to move the tile->primary_gt's allocation to a more consistent place later in the initialization flow in future patches (i.e., we shouldn't even allocate this GT structure if the GT is disabled/unavailable). It also helps ensure there can't be any accidental leakage of initialization or state between the dummy initialization for GMD_ID and the real driver initialization of the GT. v2: - Initialize gt->tile for temporary GT. (CI, Michal) - Use scope-based cleanup handler to free temp GT. (Michal) - Propagate actual error code from xe_gt_sriov_vf_bootstrap() rather than just setting IP version to 0.0 now that read_gmdid() can return an error. (Michal) v3: - Explicitly initialize gt to NULL, just in case something else gets inserted before the kzalloc() in the future. 2025-09-22drm/xe/dma-buf: Allow pinning of p2p dma-bufThomas Hellström
RDMA NICs typically requires the VRAM dma-bufs to be pinned in VRAM for pcie-p2p communication, since they don't fully support the move_notify() scheme. We would like to support that. However allowing unaccounted pinning of VRAM creates a DOS vector so up until now we haven't allowed it. However with cgroups support in TTM, the amount of VRAM allocated to a cgroup can be limited, and since also the pinned memory is accounted as allocated VRAM we should be safe. An analogy with system memory can be made if we observe the similarity with kernel system memory that is allocated as the result of user-space action and that is accounted using __GFP_ACCOUNT. Ideally, to be more flexible, we would add a "pinned_memory", or possibly "kernel_memory" limit to the dmem cgroups controller, that would additionally limit the memory that is pinned in this way. If we let that limit default to the dmem::max limit we can introduce that without needing to care about regressions. Considering that we already pin VRAM in this way for at least page-table memory and LRC memory, and the above path to greater flexibility, allow this also for dma-bufs. v2: - Update comments about pinning in the dma-buf kunit test (Niranjana Vishwanathapura) Cc: Dave Airlie <airlied@gmail.com> Cc: Simona Vetter <simona.vetter@ffwll.ch> Cc: Joonas Lahtinen <joonas.lahtinen@linux.intel.com> Cc: Maarten Lankhorst <maarten.lankhorst@intel.com> Cc: Matthew Brost <matthew.brost@intel.com> Cc: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com> Cc: Lucas De Marchi <lucas.demarchi@intel.com> Cc: Niranjana Vishwanathapura <niranjana.vishwanathapura@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Thomas Hellström <thomas.hellstrom@linux.intel.com> Acked-by: Simona Vetter <simona.vetter@ffwll.ch> Reviewed-by: Maarten Lankhorst <maarten.lankhorst@linux.intel.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20250918092207.54472-4-thomas.hellstrom@linux.intel.com
2025-09-17drm/xe/tests: Add pre-GMDID IP descriptors to param generatorsMichal Wajdeczko

2025-09-10drm/xe: Pass down drm_exec context to validationThomas Hellström
We want all validation (potential backing store allocation) to be part of a drm_exec transaction. Therefore add a drm_exec pointer argument to xe_bo_validate() and ___xe_bo_create_locked(). Upcoming patches will deal with making all (or nearly all) calls to these functions part of a drm_exec transaction. In the meantime, define special values of the drm_exec pointer: XE_VALIDATION_UNIMPLEMENTED: Implementation of the drm_exec transaction has not been done yet. XE_VALIDATION_UNSUPPORTED: Some Middle-layers (dma-buf) doesn't allow the drm_exec context to be passed down to map_attachment where validation takes place. XE_VALIDATION_OPT_OUT: May be used only for kunit tests where exhaustive eviction isn't crucial and the ROI of converting those is very small. For XE_VALIDATION_UNIMPLEMENTED and XE_VALIDATION_OPT_OUT there is also a lockdep check that a drm_exec transaction can indeed start at the location where the macro is expanded. This is to encourage developers to take this into consideration early in the code development process. v2: - Fix xe_vm_set_validation_exec() imbalance. 2025-09-09drm/xe: Attempt to bring bos back to VRAM after evictionThomas Hellström
VRAM+TT bos that are evicted from VRAM to TT may remain in TT also after a revalidation following eviction or suspend. The `struct kunit *test` argument was added as the first parameter to the function signature as it aligns with the convention of other KUnit functions that accept `struct kunit *test` first. This also mirrors the "this" or "self" reference found in object-oriented programming languages. This patch also modifies xe_pci_live_device_gen_param() in xe_pci.c and nthreads_gen_params() in kcsan_test.c to reflect this signature change. 2025-08-20drm/xe: Probe for tile count during device info initializationGustavo Sousa
The function mmio_multi_tile_setup() does not look like the proper location for probing for the number of existing tiles in the hardware. It should not be that function's responsibility and such information should instead be already available when it gets called. The fact that we need to adjust gt_count is a symptom of that. Move probing of available tile count to a dedicated function named xe_info_probe_tile_count() and call it from xe_info_init(), which seems like a more appropriate place for that. With that move, we no longer need to (and shouldn't) adjust gt_count as a part of xe_info_probe_tile_count(), as that field will be initialized later in xe_info_init(). v4: - Only probe for tile count if the default tile_count != 1 (just like was done in mmio_multi_tile_setup()). 2025-03-12drm/xe/rtp: Drop sentinels from arg to xe_rtp_process_to_sr()Lucas De Marchi
There's a mismatch on API: while xe_rtp_process_to_sr() processes entries until an entry without name, the active tracking with xe_rtp_process_ctx_enable_active_tracking() needs to use the number of elements. The number of elements is taken everywhere using ARRAY_SIZE(), but that will have one entry too many. This leads to the following warning, as reported by lkp: drivers/gpu/drm/xe/xe_tuning.c: In function 'xe_tuning_dump': >> include/drm/drm_print.h:228:31: warning: '%s' directive argument is null [-Wformat-overflow=] 228 | drm_printf((printer), "%.*s" fmt, (indent), "\t\t\t\t\tX", ##__VA_ARGS__) | ^~~~~~ drivers/gpu/drm/xe/xe_tuning.c:226:17: note: in expansion of macro 'drm_printf_indent' 226 | drm_printf_indent(p, 1, "%s\n", engine_tunings[idx].name); | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's because it will still process the last entry when tracking the active tunings. The same issue exists in the WAs. Change xe_rtp_process_to_sr() to also take the number of elements so the empty entry can be removed and the warning should go away. Fixing on the active-tracking side would more fragile as the it would need a `- 1` everywhere and continue to use a different approach for number of elements. Aside from the warning, it's a non-issue as there would always be enough bits allocated and the last entry would never be active since xe_rtp_process_to_sr() stops on the sentinel. 2025-03-05drm/xe: Convert pre-GMDID IPs to struct xe_ipGustavo Sousa
We have now a struct xe_ip to fully describe an IP, but we are only using that for GMDID-based IPs. For pre-GMDID IPs, we still describe release info (version and name) via feature descriptors (struct xe_{graphics,media}_desc). Let's convert those to use struct xe_ip. With this, we have a uniform way of describing IPs in the xe driver instead of having different approaches based on whether the IPs use GMDIDs or not. A nice side-effect of this change is that now we have an easy way to lookup, in the source code, mappings between versions, names and features for all supported IPs. v2: - Store pointers to struct xe_ip instead xe_{graphics,media}_desc in struct xe_device_desc. 2025-03-05drm/xe: Rename gmdid_map to xe_ipGustavo Sousa
If we pay closer attention to struct gmdid_map, we will realize that it is actually fully describing an IP (graphics or media): it contains "release info" and "features info". The former is comprised of fields "ver" and "name"; and the latter is done via member "ip", which is a pointer to either struct xe_graphics_desc or xe_media_desc, and can be reused across releases. As such let's: * Rename struct gmdid_map to xe_ip. * Rename the field ver to verx100 to be consistent with the naming of members using that encoding of the version. * Rename the field "ip" to "desc" to make it clear that it is a pointer to a descriptor of features for the IP, since it will not contain *all* info (i.e. features + release info). We sill have release info mapped into struct xe_{graphics,media}_desc for pre-GMDID IPs. In an upcoming change we will handle that so that we make a clear separation between "release info" and "feature info".
