2023-06-09mtd: chips: Use SPDX license headersLinus Walleij
Some of the files in mtd/chips do not have a SPDX license header, presumably because the text string "GPL'd" didn't parse with Thomas rulesets for magic license tagging. Fix this, the code is initially from RedHat which clearly targeted the Linux kernel and intended it to be GPLv2. In any case the original author appears to be David Woodhouse who can then confirm this. 2012-03-27mtd: do not duplicate length and offset checks in driversArtem Bityutskiy
We already verify that offset and length are within the MTD device size in the MTD API functions. Let's remove the duplicated checks in drivers. This patch only affects the following API's: 'mtd_erase()' 'mtd_point()' 'mtd_unpoint()' 'mtd_get_unmapped_area()' 'mtd_read()' 'mtd_write()' 'mtd_panic_write()' 'mtd_lock()' 'mtd_unlock()' 'mtd_is_locked()' 'mtd_block_isbad()' 'mtd_block_markbad()' This patch adds a bit of noise by removing too sparse empty lines, but this is not too bad. 2009-09-19mtd: cfi_cmdset_0002: add 0xFF intolerance for M29W128GMassimo Cirillo
The M29W128G Numonyx flash devices are intolerant to any 0xFF command: in the Cfi_util.c the function cfi_qry_mode_off() (that resets the device after the autoselect mode) must have a 0xF0 command after the 0xFF command. 2008-08-06[MTD] [NOR] Add qry_mode_on()/qry_omde_off() to deal with odd chipsAlexey Korolev
There are some CFI chips which require non standard procedures to get into QRY mode. The possible way to support them would be trying different modes till QRY will be read. This patch introduce two new functions qry_mode_on qry_mode_off. qry_mode_on tries different commands in order switch chip into QRY mode. So if we have one more "odd" chip - we just could add several lines to qry_mode_on. Also using these functions remove unnecessary code duplicaton in porbe procedure. Currently there are two "odd" cases 1. Some old intel chips which require 0xFF before 0x98 2. ST M29DW chip which requires 0x98 to be sent at 0x555 (according to CFI should be 0x55) This patch is partialy based on the patch from Uwe (see "[PATCH 2/4] [RFC][MTD] cfi_probe: remove Intel chip workaround" thread ) Signed-off-by: Alexey Korolev <akorolev@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Alexander Belyakov <abelyako@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <David.Woodhouse@intel.com>

2007-02-14[PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). 2005-08-04[MTD] CHIPS: Recognize Spansion CFI 1.4 chipsTodd Poynor
Modify Amd/Fujitsu CFI NOR flash primary vendor extension table revision check to recognize version 1.4. Verified the existing driver can handle version 1.4 chips without additional info from 1.4 extended table. Move the primary vendor extension table revision check from common file to the 3 CFI chip driver files, since the data structures and revisions handled by those data structures are specific to the chip driver. Modify the error message printed when the revision is unknown to be a KERN_ERR instead of WARNING since this will cause mtd to ignore the chip. 2004-11-16MTD: Provide XIP support for Intel flash chips.David Woodhouse
This allows for MTD support to be used on flash memory which is also used for XIP purposes, either XIP kernel or XIP userspace. The whole idea is to relocate functions actually modifying the flash state away from array mode to ram and run them with interrupt disabled. When the flash needs some time to complete a certain operation, we poll the processor for pending (but still masked) interrupts, and when they occur we suspend the flash operation in order to unmask interrupts and let the system run again. 2004-10-21MTD: NOR flash chip driver updatesDavid Woodhouse
Mostly from Eric Biederman for supporting BIOS flash. - Move support firmware hub style lock and unlock into fhw_lock.h (from cfi_cmdset_0002) - Move cfi_varsize_frob into cfi_util from cfi_cmdset_0001.c and cfi_cmdset_0002.c - reduce gen_probe probe failuers to a debug level message - Modify cfi_fixup to take a struct mtd_info instead of a struct map_info So that the fixup routines can modify the mtd functions. - Modify cfi_cmdset_0001() to allocate and initialize the mtd structure before calling cfi_fixup. - Modify cfi_cmdset_0002() to allocate and initialize the mtd structure before calling cfi_fixup. - Refactor the hard coded fixups in cfi_cmdset_0001 and cfi_cmdset_0002 so the improved cfi_fixup infrastructure. - Rewrote amd76xrom and ichxrom. They now report their starting physical address in their name. They now both handle multiple bankwidth configurations They both can create multipe mtd devices. They both now assume the rom windows are properly opened by the BIOS or whatever runs previous to them. Their code is now synchromized so it is almost identical, and could be a starting point for a x86_rom_probe. Signed-Off-By: David Woodhouse <dwmw2@infradead.org>
2004-07-15NOR flash drivers updateDavid Woodhouse
